REACH REGISTRATION FOR IRON AND IRON SUBSTANCES

REACH timelines

Registration under REACH must be completed in accordance with a statutory timetable depending mainly on the annual quantity produced or imported. The timetable is shown below.

Registration deadline for high volume tonnages:

  • greater than or equal to 1000 tonnes per year 
  • greater than or equal to 100 tonnes per year R50/53 substances [very toxic to aquatic organisms, may cause long term adverse effect in aquatic environments]
  • greater than or equal to 1 tonne per year for CMR substances [carcinogenic, mutagenic and reprotoxic substances]
30 May 2013

Registration deadline for medium volume tonnages:

  • greater than or equal to 100 tonnes per year and less than 1,000 tonnes per year 
30 May 2018

Registration deadline for low volume tonnages:

  • greater than or equal to 1 tonne per year and less than 100 tonnes per year
